Trying Times

It's a tough time right now. My (Neil) grandfather is struggling healthwise right now. It's been hard to see his health decline so rapidly and tough to see my mother watch and care for him in this state. Today was an especially tough day.

Thank the Lord that one day I will be in a place where there is no more dying, pain, suffering or tears. Thank the Lord that I know my grandfather will be there one day with me.

Please pray for my grandfather that the Lord gives him peace and for my mother to have strength during this time.

July 5th Update

We had a wonderful 4th. Valerie, her brother Mark, my sister Tara and I (Neil) had a bbq at my parents' home in PQ. We then went over to Poway to watch the fire works. Val volunteers at an animal shelter that overlooks Poway High and the area. First time I've watched fireworks with pigs, goats, chickens, burrows, cats and dogs. But the view was spectacular! We were able to see fireworks from RB, and
Escondido as well.

Pursuing my Master's in Science has been put on hold at the moment. I had been currently taking classes at the Institute for Creation Research in pursuit of a Master Science Education. The school has had some legal battles and ended up losing its accreditation. Although it is very disappointing, I am also not surprised. Although the school was fully accredited while is was located in CA, the school has never been accepted in the education world and I knew this going in to the program. When the school moved to TX, it had battles with the state and never became fully accredited. My main purpose was to learn about creation, while pursuing a degree. As a Christian, I fully realize that what I believe in is rejected by most people. I really don't care if people look down on the program. I'm not out to impress people, but the Lord only.

I've looked into a few other Master's programs, but have decided to wait on the Lord. Right now, I'm preparing to take the single subject CSET in chemistry to become eligible to teach in a public school. I don't want to plan too far in advance. What the Lord has planned is a mystery!

"Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind."- Albert Einstein. (Who is going to argue against Einstein?)

My grandfather who is in his late 80s has just accepted the LORD has his Savior. This truly is a miraculous event. I won't go into details, but if you truly knew who my grandfather once was, you'd know that accepting Christ into his life was a long shot. My mother is very happy and relieved. We continue to pray for my grandma.

Summer is going well. Even though, it doesn't quite feel like summer. I don't mind it, though. It feels good not to bake in our apartment. Val is working as an instruction assistant at Monterey Ridge and I am teaching a math prep course for the California High School Exit Exam. It's nice to work half days and get a decent income.

Godspeed,
Neil
